hi Jone, do you need a help with a log file not rolling over as it should or with a log file missing entirely after you deleted it manually?

can you please describe what exactly is the problem? the issue you linked is talking about 2 different (but related) problems: • problem no. 1: log rotations does not seem to work as configured • problem no. 2: a user deleted a log file manually and now they are missing logs. which issue is yours?

ok, both of them. well, the #2 should be easy to solve - just restart questdb and it should create a new log file. #1 is going to be a bit more complicated. can you share your logging configuration?

all lines that start with
#
are commented
3:15 PM
so, the rolling appender is not enabled on your server
3:16 PM
try
w.file.class=io.questdb.log.LogRollingFileWriter
w.file.location=${log.dir}/questdb-rolling.log.${date:yyyyMMdd}
w.file.level=INFO,ERROR
rollEvery accepts: day, hour, minute, month
w.file.rollEvery=day
w.file.rollSize=1g

It could originate from the non-rolling log writer's file (LogFileWriter). Do you have it disabled?

These lines are disabled, so it shouldn't be this one

You should delete
$ > {QDB_LOG} ...
in questdb.sh. But that's a temporary workaround. I'm checking with the team if there is a proper way to solve this problem

I've found a better solution to your problem. Try changing
writers=file,stdout,http.min
to
writers=file
12:44 PM
This way there will be no console (stdout) log writer, so that the
stdout-
file won't contain the logs
