Hello, i'm trying to find a way to change the name of the database from qdb to something else, I was expecting to see something in line with pg.password or pg.user, but cant find anything that defines this, any light on this?

Hello, I believe the name of the database is ignored anyway. a single questdb instance does not support multiple databases at this moment. “qdb” is recommended to use as things can change in the future, but as of now you can use anything and it should work.

I didn't quite catch the use anything part, what env var should I use? I'm not trying to create multiple db's in an instance, is just for the uniformization of a docke-compose file

I apologize for the confusion. Let’s start from here: I’m assuming you are using a Postgres client to connect to QuestDB. Is that right? QuestDB documentation says you should configure Postgres drivers to use qdb as a database name when connecting to QuestDB. I understood you would like to use a different database name, not qdb, but some other name. Is that right too?

Yup, so what you are saying is that the parameter dbname is ignored?
That could work for my OCD

yes, I checked the code and some tests and I could not find a case where the database name would be actually significant.

Ok, this is something that might change in the near future?

I changed postgres client tests to connect to a
    notqdb
database and they are still passing.
that’s a good question! probably not in a near future, I’m not aware of any plans to support multiple databases in a single questdb instance. but I cannot rule it out either. it would be quite significant change as it would affect other interfaces too. For example REST or ILP. Unlike Postgres they do not assume the existence of multiple databases. So such a change would be very highlighted in release notes.
